In 2006, Karen Farrell became Managing Director of Crime Prevention Services Ltd, continuing to drive the company’s growth and reputation as a trusted leader in fire and security solutions across the UK.

A hands-on and approachable leader, Karen is involved in every area of the business, with particular focus on Finance, Compliance and Client Service. Her commitment to operational efficiency, transparency and outstanding client care ensures the highest standards across all aspects of the company.

Karen’s focus on delivering a positive and seamless client experience, from initial consultation to installation and ongoing maintenance, has become a cornerstone of how Crime Prevention Services operates. She leads with fairness, integrity and genuine care, fostering a culture where every team member feels valued and empowered.

Her dedication to excellence extends beyond the business. In 2024–2025, Karen proudly served as High Sheriff, further demonstrating her passion for community engagement and public service.

Director

Brad Farrell, Director at Crime Prevention Services Ltd and son of founders Geoff and Karen Farrell, plays a key role in driving business growth, developing strategic partnerships, and ensuring the highest standards of client care across all sectors.

Having joined the company straight from school, Brad gained invaluable, hands-on experience across every department, including several years working as a security engineer. This foundation has given him a deep technical understanding of fire and security systems, installation processes and client requirements.

Brad’s leadership style is defined by collaboration, innovation and a commitment to delivering tailored, compliant and reliable security solutions. His strong relationships with clients and industry partners continue to shape the company’s success and reputation for excellence in fire and security protection across the UK.

Our History

Crime Prevention Services was founded by the late Geoff Farell in 1982


Geoff began his career as a sales representative for a renowned photocopier company. However, after a while he decided it was time to start his own venture.

With the support of his friend Dave Evans, who remained the technical manager even after three decades, they drove the company to significant success before relocating to a site with old farm buildings in Northop.

Crime Prevention Services Ltd began its journey in Deeside with a clear mission to provide professional, reliable security solutions across the region. From the very beginning, the business experienced consistent growth, expanding both its client base and team. To meet increasing demand, a second office was opened in Clitheroe, strengthening our capacity to install and maintain bespoke security systems throughout the UK.

1989

New Purpose-Built HQ in Northop

A major milestone was reached with the construction of a purpose-built head office on the westbound side of the A55 as you approach Chester. This new facility replaced a derelict farm building and quickly became a local landmark. Following several expansions and renovations, it continues to serve as our Head Office today.

2001

The creation of our own in-house Alarm Receiving Centre

A defining moment for the company with the creation of our own in-house Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) which is a first of its kind in Wales. This achievement led to Crime Prevention Services becoming the first company in the country to receive NACOSS Gold accreditations across all security disciplines. Operating our own ARC is rare within the security industry and remains a key factor that distinguishes us from other providers.

The tecdesk Founded

Building on our expertise in fire and security, we launched The tecdesk to provide innovative technology solutions that bridge the gap between physical and digital security. This new venture allows us to offer businesses a complete, integrated approach, combining traditional security systems with modern digital tools, making Crime Prevention Services a true one-stop shop for protection, monitoring and technology solutions.
